Don't Be Pick-y
Hello musician loves!
Picks can be a lot like socks, am I right? You stock up on them, and they disappear pretty easily. Anyway... my brother posted this on the ol' Face to the Book, and I signed up. I thought I'd share the wealth and pass it along. FREE PICKS! Woot! Why not, right?

Happy Earth Day!
It's Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day, Everyone!
I am still in New England. Heading back to Chicago tomorrow. I didn't do a great deal to observe today's holiday, but I did have locally sourced (delicious) fish for lunch.
Just do your best to reduce, reuse, recycle, and even up-cycle. Hope you had a great Earth Day.
Here is a photo I took today in New Hampshire... it's been pretty rainy here today, but the flowers are in bloom!

Happy Record Store Day!
Happy Record Store Day, y'all!
I beg you, skip iTunes at least for the day, and go out and support your favorite local record stores! Always, always shop local when you can. Support small business. Also... real albums! Can you believe it? Yes, they still exist! Vinyl even! Is your head spinning yet?
For more information on this (a favorite of mine) holiday, please scope out http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home. You can look up stores in your area. Also, remember that apart from their typical gems, most record stores will have deals, live performances, rare releases, free shirts or stickers, (some stores might even be opening earlier) etc., so check the website to check on what your favorite local spots are offering up today!
Here are a few of my favorite record stores:

Reckless Records: http://www.reckless.com/
When I'm home on the East Coast:

New York, New York
As promised! My blog: The New York Edition! I bet you're so excited you can hardly stand it. I wouldn't blame you. New York City is pretty spectacular.
We left the house (on Saturday morning) here in New Hampshire around 6:45am, and by the time we made it to New York, and picked up friends (real ones, with whom we had plans to grab lunch) along the way, we were probably in the city by roughly 11:30. Not too shabby!
We drive past the half price theatre ticket booth, and saw that very few things were left on special, but we had printed off a few Playbill member coupons before we left. So... we went to the Saint James theatre (on 44th between 8th and Broadway) to see if we could get tickets to the 2:00 matinee performance of 'Leap of Faith,' which we did! And they were amazing seats! Front and center about 6 or 7 rows back... very close to the action, but not to close that you had to break your neck looking up the entire time.
I don't want to go into too much detail about the show so as not to spoil it if you decide to go see it. I will say, however, that the scenery, etc, was rather simple, but pretty effective. Not a huge cast, but a cast filled with some pretty major, powerful voices, and there were some fun dance routines in the show. The show is in previews right now, so, unfortunately, you can't get your hands on an Original Cast Recording (also known as a "soundtrack" to many).
Once we got out of the show, we walked to the library, which I had never been to. It was stunning! From there, we walked to Grand Central (another first for me), which was also a lovely sight to behold. We got a train, and met the rest of our group out in the burbs, where our friends made dinner for us, and we all sat around the kitchen table eating, laughing, and catching up. It was lovely. Then... it was back on the road for the four hour ride home!
I'd say we are all pretty tired, but it was very much worth it! A few photo highlights to give you an idea of the day's sights. I hope you enjoy.

Home, Sweet Home
Hello all! Greetings from the country roads of New England! Yes, I'm home, and I love being home. It means seeing stars in the night sky, familiar faces, catching up with people I adore, food I've missed, places I long for, etc.
I've been working on doing some theatre/story-telling based work with some elementary school kids. They are grades K through 4th. It's fun to see them gain excitement over reading, theatre, and the act of telling stories.
Being home for that has also allotted me the much needed time to see some family, catch up with old friends, and just be around people and places that I love and have missed dearly.
I have spent the past few days in Boston (my old stomping grounds), catching up with old pals from college and theatre internships, etc. It was exactly what I needed on so many levels. I hope you enjoy a few photos from my time in Boston.
PREPARE YOURSELF! I get up bright and early in the morning for a day trip to New York City! Show to be seen: TBA. I'm sure there is bound to be a spiffy post about NYC...
For now, my loves, here is Boston (how can you not love this city?):
