Yum!

I made pudding from scratch yesterday! Honestly, it's nothing I really ever considered doing because I always just assumed that it must be pretty labor intensive since everyone uses the instant stuff. Lies, all lies. I found a super simple (easy) recipe online, and followed that. I am sure that there are far more complicated and fancy versions out there, but this one is super easy, and pretty tasty.

1 heaping tbsp. Hersheys cocoa powder (I also added a bit of dark chocolate drinking chocolate mix from Trader Joe's to add a bit more chocolaty richness)
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups milk (I used 2%, but I'm sure you could use whole for super rick pudding, or skim to cut out the fat altogether)
1tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 heaping tbsp. flour

Combine all of your dry ingredients, making sure to mix very well. Slowly add milk while you stir. Continue to stir over low heat (I used medium heat to speed up the process a bit). Add butter and vanilla once pudding thickens. Serve (warm or chilled).

Voila!

 I remember going to elementary school with a girl who's Dad was born on Leap Year, and her talking about her Dad turning 10 or something nuts. As a little kid, that was a really tough concept for me to wrap my head around. Anyway... I digress?

It's Leap Year, y'all! Go do something fun! Do something out of your comfort zone! Do something exciting or unique. Do something for yourself or a friend. Random act of kindness, perhaps? Savor it, enjoy it, and just soak it up. Leap Year doesn't happen everyday... or every... year.

That being said, you might spare yourself and not watch the movie 'Leap Year.' Just sayin'...

Obsessed.

Valentine's Banner- Quick & Easy

I wanted to make a Valentine's Day banner for a large space in the apartment, but I had very little money, and when I get it in my head that I want to do something, I want it done right away. So my dilemma was, how do I make a *cute* banner quickly and with very little money to spend?

It might sound silly, but I went to the Dollar Store for some cheap inspiration. Luckily, I found it! I found red, pink, and white heart-shaped doilies. $1 a pack, with 30 doilies in each pack! So I purchased one of each color. I knew that I wanted to string them along, but I couldn't find ribbon at home that I liked, so I used some white yarn. The doilies are colored on one side and white on the other, so for the pink and red hearts, I double-faced them to solve that problem.

I wanted to add a little something else to the banner in each place where I tacked the banner up, so I decided to use the same white yarn that I strung the doilies with, and make little pom poms. So cute (or at least I think so)! Just wrapped some yarn around two fingers, until I had a nice little ball, then tied the bundle around the center, and cut the loops, leaving two tails long enough to tie in a loop so I could hang them from the tacks, used to hang the banner.

Done and done... and in no time at all... and I spent a whopping $3 on this project! With doilies left to play with and do other things with.

I've always been extremely proud of being from New Hampshire. It's a gorgeous state, and it was a brilliant place to grow up. That being said, this makes me completely sick.
Pretty hypocritical of a state with the motto "Live Free or Die."

As much as I love Chicago (and the majority of Chicago's sports teams), I am a New England girl through and through. Born and raised in New Hampshire, and got my college education in Boston. You cannot take the New England girl out of me. Ever. It's who I am. That being said, it likely goes without saying that I am a New England Patriots fan, and I LOVE when my team is doing well (who doesn't?)!

Here is how today's VERY important game played out as broadcasted by me via my Facebook status updates. Heh. What a rollercoaster!

- Wishing I felt good enough to watch the game(s) with my homie, (*insert friend's name here*). Proving that Patriots fans and Niners fans CAN be friends... for now.

- Eh, slight lead at halftime? I'll take it.

- Three field goals, one touchdown, and a partridge in a pear tree.

- C'mon boys. Let's get our heads in the game, stop being sloppy, and get it together!

- YES! YES! YES!

- My previous update has been reversed. Damnit!

- OKAY! Now we can have it! TOUCHDOWN! With a field goal ta boot!

- INTERCEPTION!!!

- MISSED THE FIELD GOAL!!! WOW!! GO NEW ENGLAND!!! That was EXTREMELY lucky for us!

- I seriously can't believe it. I honestly didn't feel like we could win if we ended up going into overtime. This game legit came down to who got LUCKY. Wow.

 Yikes. No joke. We got VERY lucky today. It was a seriously sloppy game, and them missing a simple field goal just came down to bad luck for them, which translated into our good fortune. If you ask me, neither team played even close to their best today. Now... that being said, I ain't hatin' on going to the SUPER BOWL!
