My Weekend
Goodness, what a weekend! No rest for the wicked.
Friday night, I had my first official, paying babysitting gig since I was about 12 years old. So I spent my Friday night with a pretty hip 5 month old, who spent most of the evening sleeping. I got home around 2:00 in the morning.
Saturday, I woke up early, and took a rather lengthy trip to Barnes and Noble with the family. Got a bit of other shopping in as well. Then my Mom and I went off on a girl's afternoon adventure. We went to Swirlz Cupcakes, and sat outside in the sun to eat our delicious cupcakes. If you haven't been to Swirlz, I highly recommend it, and they have great gluten free cupcakes that taste just like the real deal. So good. From there, we got a late lunch (yes, we had our cupcakes first... can you blame us?). And we topped our girl's afternoon off with a fruitful trip to Trader Joe's.
Saturday evening, we all went to the Skokie Backlot Bash, which is essentially a vamped up street fair, which essentially takes place in our backyard. We sat down to catch some free live music (one of my very favorite things), and I hear the MC say "I am so pumped about this next band! They are amazing! They are Grammy nominated artists..." I started to get a little excited... "FASTBALL!" And while I laughed, the crowd went wild! Man, oh man, does Skokie LOVE their Fastball. Who knew? Do you remember Fastball? Rewind back to.. hmm... 1990 something I'm sure, and a little hit single 'The Way.' Yep, that's them. Did you know that they had more than one song? Neither did I! While I wouldn't call it a stellar performance, the crowd at the Bash was smitten, and really rockin' out.
Sunday, I had a reflexology appointment. I'm new to this reflexology thing, but I'm really digging it. Wasn't sure how I'd feel about someone touching my feet, but it feels great, and I'm noticing some changes. I'd suggest trying it out if you're curious. After that, and a bit of rest, it was off to dinner with my co-worker (and friend) Meghan at Harmony Grill (Schubas) and Peter Bjorn & John at Schubas! I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never seen them, and didn't know anyone else who had seen them before. So. Good. Great, fun energy, great music, and just a lot of fun! I loved them. I left a much bigger fan than I was when I walked in.
Here are a few photos to sum up how my weekend looked. Hope you enjoy.
